The family of a boy, who died in a Saturday, March 8, fire in Clearfield Township, is sharing more information about the fatal incident.

The 2-year-old boy’s grandmother told WPXI that the family dog, Precious, died in the fire and attributed the fire’s cause to an electrical issue within that interview.

State police on Thursday said the fire marshal is investigating to determine the cause of the fire.

Jesse Umbaugh, 2, died after his family’s trailer caught fire just before 8 a.m. in the 2000 block of Old Route 422 East on Saturday.

A GoFundMe for the family has raised more than $21,000 as of Thursday morning with almost 250 donations. The home was destroyed in the fire.

Parents Melina Bryner and Alex Umbaugh attempted to retrieve the child but could not locate him, according to the grandmother’s interview with WPXI. Both were taken to Pittsburgh hospitals.
