Cause of death released for woman killed in Concord Township crash
Details about the death of a woman killed in a March 10 crash on Route 38 in Concord Township were released Wednesday, March 19, by deputy coroner Korynne Young.
Dora B. Hovis, 48, of St. Petersburg in Clarion County, died of accidental blunt force trauma to the head, trunk, pelvis and lower extremities as a result of the crash, Young said.
The head-on crash was reported around 4 p.m. along Route 38, just north of its intersection with Rider Road, according to a crash report from state police.
The crash report showed Hovis was a passenger in a Honda CR-V that was struck on the front-right side by a Cadillac SRX, driven by Diane T. Schomburger, 34, of Allison Park. Ronald A. Hovis, 67, of St. Petersburg, was driving the CR-V, the report said.
Police said the crash occurred at around 3:52 p.m. The drivers were traveling in opposite directions on Route 38 when Schomburger’s Cadillac SRX veered into the opposite lane. Police said the driver of the Honda CR-V attempted to avoid the collision by swerving into Schomburger’s lane, but the Cadillac swerved back into her lane and struck the vehicle head-on.
