3 killed in Clarion County head-on crash
A vehicle crash Saturday afternoon, March 22, in Toby Township, Clarion County, killed three people, including a sophomore in Union School District.
Cambrie Priester, 16, of Rimersburg, and Landon Atkins, 16, of Cadogan, were killed in the crash, according to their obituaries. Christopher McNutt, 55, of Sligo, also died in the crash, according to Explore Clarion.
Trooper Vaughn Norbert, state police public information officer, said the crash occurred around 3:10 p.m. on Route 68.
State police said two juveniles were traveling northbound in a Mitsubishi Outlander when the vehicle crossed the double yellow line and struck a Jeep Cherokee containing one man and one juvenile traveling southbound. Three people were pronounced dead at the scene, and one juvenile was transported to a medical facility with suspected serious injuries, police said.
Priester was a sophomore at Union High School serving on student council, as a class officer and was soon to be inducted the National Honor Society, according to her obituary. She planned to become a registered nurse, doing hair on the side.
Union School District superintendent John Kimmel released a statement on the district’s Facebook page Sunday explaining one student and a guardian within the school’s community died in the crash.
“It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we share in the news of a sudden loss of life affecting several families within our school district and the entire local community,” Kimmel said.
Kimmel said support services are available to help students and staff in need and asked the community to respect the privacy of families involved.
Atkins attended Armstrong Jr./Sr. High School and planned to attend Lenape Tech for welding, according to his obituary. He enjoyed riding his dirt bike with his friends, racing, fishing, hunting and camping.
