Butler woman charged with neglecting horses
A Butler woman was charged with neglecting and abusing her horses.
State police in Butler charged Sherry Marie Maser, 54, with one misdemeanor count each of cruelty to animals and neglect of animals related to a March 16 investigation in Summit Township.
Police said they received a call from neighbors in the 300 block of Heist Road who said they heard what sounded like a horse dying in nearby stables.
Police said they arrived at the stables to find a donkey that appeared to be sick and dying laying in manure. Police said the stable was filled with manure.
Police said about five skinny horses were in their own stalls in the stables. Police said they observed one horse struggling to walk out of its stable with hooves that appeared overgrown and a coat that had not been brushed in a long time.
Police said Maser said she did not have time to care for the horses. Her preliminary hearing has not yet been scheduled.
