Prospect to allow solar, wind power facilities
Prospect Borough Council unanimously passed two ordinances at its March meeting to allow solar and wind energy facilities within the borough.
Mayor James Butler said the ordinances were passed unanimously at the March 3 meeting in order for the borough to be prepared if solar and wind energy companies want to locate in Prospect.
Butler said is wasn’t aware of any such companies coming to the borough, but planning commission chair Alan Vagasky recommended ordinances be passed for potential commercial and residential applications. Ordinance 2025-01 refers to large-scale projects, and Ordinance 2025-02 amends the borough’s zoning ordinance allowing for residential facilities.
Butler also said the borough’s engineer has been working with Stephenson Equipment’s engineer to ensure the lateral sewer extension is going smoothly. He said the project will connect the borough’s sewer line to Stephenson Equipment in Franklin Township.
He did not know when the project would be finished and did not have an update on the CIPP (cured in place pipe) lining project in coordination with Insight Pipe Contracting.
Council’s next meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. April 7 at the Prospect Borough Building. The planning commission will next meet at 7 p.m. April 21, and the sewage committee will next meet at 9 a.m. April 23.
