Two occupants were uninjured when a vehicle crashed into a guardrail Wednesday morning, March 26, in Middlesex Township.

The two occupants were evaluated at the scene near 359 Route 228 before being released, according to Capt. Riley Ferguson of Middlesex Township Volunteer Fire Company.

The vehicle crashed before its front-end caught fire, he said.

The crash occurred at about 11:45 a.m. on a portion of the road already reduced to one lane each way from its normal two lanes due to construction.

“Yeah, it’s a mess,” Ferguson said about traffic at the scene.

Middlesex Township police responded first and were able to extinguish most of the fire before crews arrived, Ferguson said. Adams Area Fire District arrived shortly after and extinguished the rest of the fire with a hose.

Quality EMS also responded to the scene, and Mike’s Towing towed the vehicle.
