Police searching for suspect in Amish buggy robbery

State police are searching for a man accused of robbing an Amish buggy at gunpoint Thursday, March 27, in Lackawana Township, Mercer County.

The buggy was stopped by a black sedan near the intersection of Number 8 Road and Speer Road when a man in dark clothing and a medical mask got out, pointed a gun at the occupant and demanded his wallet, police said.

The occupant then gave the man his wallet before the sedan fled the scene, police said. Two individuals were in the black sedan, a news release from police said.

While on the scene of the first theft, police said, they received another call about a man matching the same description in a similar vehicle stopping a buggy on Leesburg Station Road and again, demanding the occupant’s wallet.

In the second instance, the man fled when the occupant refused to give up his wallet, police said.
