Emlenton man charged with breaking windows of Venango Township home with hammer

An Emlenton man was charged after breaking multiple windows with a hammer, according to police.

Austin J. Scott, 31, was charged with two misdemeanor counts each of reckless endangerment, harassment, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief; and one misdemeanor count of possession of a crime instrument following a Thursday, April 10, incident in Venango Township.

State police said they were called for a theft in the 100 block of Hughes Road and were informed upon arrival that Scott had thrown a hammer through a window. Police said they could see broken glass from the window laying about 12 feet across the room, and there were two juveniles in the home at the time.

Police said Scott left the home and told the resident he would return later to smash the rest of the home’s windows.

Police said they were called back later for another disturbance Scott had caused, but he left before police arrived. Police said Scott reportedly entered the residence when he returned, argued with the resident and knocked items over in the home.

Police said Scott broke two more windows out of the home, and police observed two more broken windows pushed in from the outside.

Scott’s preliminary hearing has not yet been scheduled.
