146 animals rescued from county residence
State Police are confirming that nearly 150 animals were rescued from a Franklin Township property where the owner had died and his wife was hospitalized.
According to a Facebook post by the A.N.N.A. Shelter in Erie, 146 live animals — five dogs, two cats and 139 rabbits — were recovered with the assistance of state police and taken to the Erie shelter.
While the A.N.N.A Shelter is housing the rescues, at least another 160 animals on the property had died.
Initial reports out of Erie that the animals were found after the property owner was found deceased are incorrect.
This a developing story. Check the Butler Eagle on Wednesday, Nov. 8, for updates.
