Alter Eagle, a Butler Eagle podcast, will air a special “miniseries” following host and producer Laura Crago’s attendance at the State of the Union address Thursday, March 7.

Crago was invited to attend the address as the guest of U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly, R-16th, after he recorded with the podcast in January.

Kelly’s episode, as well as the six other episodes currently available, highlight mental health and addiction in Butler County.

In a news release Tuesday, Kelly stated his time on the podcast “as a parent of someone who battles addiction” motivated him to invite Crago.

“I knew right away that she deserves to highlight this issue on the national level,” he stated.

The miniseries will include conversations with bipartisan elected officials on the State of the Union address, according to Crago, as well as the podcast’s ongoing topic of mental health and addiction.

“I’m in a position here where I’m really setting aside my opinions and wanting to hear other opinions on a lot of these topics,” she said, “and to get as much information as I can to listeners”

Crago said she would additionally be discussing recent legislation related to the production of grain-oriented electrical steel at Cleveland-Cliffs in Butler.

“I feel it’s important to have those conversations and hear from both sides,” she said. “My goal here is to really share both sides.”

Packing her recording equipment Wednesday afternoon, Crago said she was “anxious and excited” for the visit.

“I very much want to represent Butler County and the Butler Eagle as best as I can.”

The miniseries will be available on alter-eagle.com as well as on major streaming platforms, such as Spotify and Apple Podcasts. New episodes of the Alter Eagle podcast release every Monday.
