Man charged after fleeing officers in Lyndora

A man, who was allegedly carrying controlled substances and a firearm illegally, ran from police in Lyndora while dressed in all black, police said.

Noah Storm Burnside, 27, of Butler, was charged with one felony count each of possession of a firearm while prohibited, aggravated assault, firearms not to be carried without a license and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, and one misdemeanor count each of resisting arrest, evading detention on foot, false identification to law enforcement, controlled substance possession and drug paraphernalia possession related to an incident that occurred around 2:30 a.m. Sunday, March 2.

According to Butler Township police, Burnside was questioned at a gas station where he was seen wearing an all-black outfit, a ski mask with his hood pulled over his head and a black Nike backpack. Police said the incident occurred in an area of Lyndora where police said they had encountered Burnside before.

Police said Burnside identified himself as his brother, who did not have an active warrant like Burnside did.

Burnside was placed into custody after refusing to pull down his ski mask for officers to identify him, according to the affidavit.

Police said as they started to approach Burnside, he fled, leaving his backpack and jacket. Police said he resisted arrest by attempting rollover and kicking while being handcuffed.

Police said Burnside had multiple bags of crack cocaine, a silver pistol with .32-caliber ammunition, five glass crack pipes, one meth pipe, two metal spoons with white power residue, a gold measuring cup with white powder residue and other drug paraphernalia.

Burnside’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. March 13 before District Judge Kevin O’Donnell.
