Renfrew man accused of shooting homemade firearms beside Connoquenessing Elementary School
State police have filed charges against a man with previous felony charges who is accused of firing homemade rifles Saturday, April 19, beside Connoquenessing Elementary School.
Bryan K. Hartman, 57, of Renfrew, was charged with three felony counts of possession of a firearm while prohibited and one misdemeanor count each of reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct following the incident in Connoquenessing Township.
Police received a call shortly after 9 a.m. about Hartman shooting rifles on his Evans City Road property beside Connoquenessing Elementary School.
Hartman was inside the residence when police arrived, and he eventually came out after search warrants were granted. He was taken into custody.
Police searched the residence and found three handmade .22-caliber rifles and numerous boxes of ammunition. Two targets on the property also had improper backstops and were adjacent to Connoquenessing Elementary School.
Hartman’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. April 30 before District Judge Amy Marcinkiewicz. He’s being held at the Butler County Prison on a $35,000 bail.
